The Ford Fusion is a hatchback and MPV crossover that was in production between 2002 and 2011.
Built on the Fiesta platform of that period, the Fusion handles itself comfortably on just about any British road. The light steering is welcome when parking, while the stability and refinement make for a relaxing journey.
Various petrol and diesel engines were available throughout the Fusion's lifespan, which consisted of 1.4 and 1.6-litre options. More than 60mpg is possible from the diesels, with the petrol choices maxing out at 43.5mpg, but offering stronger performance.
The raised roofline at the back is beneficial to occupants sitting in the rear, while the boot and it's large opening make for easy loading and unloading when shopping. In fact, fold the rear seats flat and there's over 1000 litres of boot space to play with.
Tax is dearer than more modern alternatives as you'd expect, but this is offset by the savings that can be had through Ford Essential Service, which offers discounted maintenance on older models.
