Introducing the new Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee is the Jeep's flagship model, evolving nicely with each new generation since first launching back in 1992.

This latest version is the most luxurious and sophisticated yet, and comes with a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering both power and economy.

And in a market where the SUV is ultra-popular, the Jeep Grand Cherokee offers the legendary styling which makes it easily identifiable as a Jeep, keeping it unique in a crowded market.

Design and Practicality

Classically American, the Grand Cherokee is just that. It emits power, presence and the iconic chunky design we see in every SUV Jeep make. Plus, it retains the iconic seven-slot grille.

Having been first introduced in 1992, the original silhouette can still be seen, only now it's sharper, more sophisticated and sitting proudly on 21-inch polished alloy wheels (Summit Reserve trim) or 20-inch wheels (Overland trim), the Grand Cherokee stays true to its heritage.

There's plenty of space on offer too, with masses of interior space and a large boot, in which you'll find 533 litres of space, increasing to 1,463 litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Interior, Technology, and Safety

Interior tech and the general vibe is as to be expected with this range-topping Grand Cherokee Jeep. There's a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, which is complemented by a 10.1-ich 'Uconnect' infotainment screen, complete with sat-nav. Of course, Apple Carplay and Android Auto can be used if you prefer.

Material and fit and finish is high, being the flagship model in the Jeep range, it comes as no surprise.

As for safety, there's lots of cutting-edge kit available, which includes the following in the range:

  • Forward collison warning plus mitigation
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Drowsy driver detection
  • Wireless Charger
  • Intersection collision warning
  • Integrated Offroad camera
  • Digital rearview mirror
  • P&P park & Unpark assist w/stop
  • Side Distance warning with 360° Camera
  • Active drive assist
  • Driver windshield HUD
  • Night vision

Engines and Performance

As the flagship Jeep model, there's just one engine needed to showcase the Grand Cherokee's power, precision and luxury and this comes in the form of a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid, producing a luscious 375bhp.

This complementation of petrol and electric power working together ensures this large Grand Cherokee all-wheel drive SUV can still dispatch 0 to 62mph in just 6.3 seconds.

Being a Jeep, take the Grand Cherokee off-road, and it will impress, showcasing why Jeep have enjoyed decades of success when it comes to SUVs. And thanks to its luxury, range-topping nature, the Grand Cherokee is impressive on-road too.

Charging

Like all charging related matters, charging the Jeep Grand Cherokee will all depend on your set-up, but it's possible for a full charge to occur in under 3 hours, allowing for up to 31 miles of pure electric driving.
